For many people, the lure of worldwide travel awaits them as they approach their retirement years. Yet the cost of maintaining a home can make extensive travel somewhat unaffordable. Unless, of course, you decide to purchase your ‘retirement home’ through a company like Australia-based Cruise Retirement, Ltd.
When you purchase with Cruise Retirement, you’re not purchasing a flat in the heart of the city or a quiet home out in the country. You are purchasing a cabin on a luxury cruise ship that continuously sales around the world. In essence, you are embarking on the nonstop cruise of a lifetime; a cruise you can enjoy for as long as you choose to be on board. Moreover, if you choose to remain ashore for an extended amount of time, your cabin will be ready and waiting for you upon your return.
We totally love this concept and will be following Cruise Retirements growth closely.
How the Programme Works
Every retirement cruise line works a little bit differently in some aspects, but similarly in others. With Cruise Retirement, you purchase your cabin and then pay monthly service fees that cover your meals, entertainment, maintenance and eventual upgrades, and more. Depending on the level of cabin you choose, those monthly fees could be as high as AUS $3,000.
In order to purchase a cabin, the consumer would first call the company directly to set up a face-to-face meeting or an over the phone consultation. A decision to purchase requires a 10% deposit with the remaining balance due prior to boarding the ship. Cruise Retirement then issues the new owner the necessary paperwork and boarding pass. The company will even arrange transportation to the ship on the day you plan to board.
Cruise Retirement Ships
Cruise Retirement, Ltd. is a brand-new company just now beginning to sell cabin space. They will be building ships on an as-needed basis, but they are committed to no more than 1,000 passengers per vessel. This allows for a smaller and more intimate experience with like-minded people looking to enjoy their retirement years together. Each Cruise Retirement ship will include a buffet restaurant, multiple lounges, beauty salon, sports deck, swimming pool, theatre, and a lot more. The ships are designed to be your retirement home on the high seas.
Where your medical care is concerned, all of their ships include a state-of-the-art medical centre staffed by fully licensed and trained medical professionals. Your private health insurance will be usable while on board. Should you have any emergency medical needs requiring care above and beyond the ability of the on-board facilities, care will be arranged for you at the nearest available port.
Spending your retirement years cruising the world could be your dream come true. If you would like more information about Cruise Retirement and what they have to offer, information is available directly from their website.
